A beautiful surface begins well before installation day. This guide explains a typical custom-surface project, who does what, and the decisions that help everything come together.

Make material and layout decisions together.

Good decisions start with understanding
One project. Six considered steps.
01
Share your idea
Tell us where the project is, which areas need surfaces and what you want the space to feel like. Room photos, cabinet drawings and approximate dimensions help explain the scope. Early measurements support the conversation; they are not instructions for cutting.
02
Explore the material
Compare colour, pattern and finish in the light of your room. A small sample helps with colour, while a full-slab image reveals the scale of the veins. Confirm the specific product, availability and suitability for each intended application.
03
Review the scope and estimate
Discuss the areas included, edge treatment, cut-outs, seams, access and installation requirements. Ask which services are included and which need another trade. Material choice, complexity and site conditions can change the estimate; confirm changes with the team.
04
Measure and plan
When the site is ready, final measurements establish the fit. Confirm cabinet and support readiness with the team, and provide the actual sink, appliance and fixture specifications. Review joint positions, vein direction and any CAD details that need approval.
05
Fabricate the pieces
The chosen slabs are cut and detailed for the agreed design. Fabrication brings together dimensions, edges, openings and pattern placement. Late changes may require revised drawings or new pieces, so resolve outstanding decisions before work begins.
06
Install and hand over
Coordinate access and any other trades before delivery. Once the surfaces are installed, review the finished work with the team and ask for the product-specific cleaning and care instructions. Confirm any remaining work and who is responsible for it.
