Porcelain repair assessments

Start with a closer look.

A chip, crack or damaged edge deserves a careful assessment. Send our Elk Grove Village team photographs of your Chicago-area porcelain surface so we can discuss whether a repair, a replacement piece or further inspection is the sensible next step.

01 / The approach

Understand the damage before deciding.

Explore our work

A small edge chip and a crack through a cutout are different problems. The location and extent of the damage, the material and the support beneath it all matter. We first need to see the whole surface, the affected area and any nearby joints or openings.

An assessment does not guarantee that a repair is possible or that a repaired area will be invisible. Color, finish and pattern can affect the result, and an underlying movement or support issue may need attention before surface work. When repair is unsuitable, we can discuss the scope of replacing the affected piece.

02 / In the details

Decisions worth making early.

01

Chips & edge damage

Photograph the damage with a ruler for scale, then step back to show which edge or corner is affected.

02

Cracks & joints

Include the full length of a crack and its relationship to sinks, cooktops, seams and cabinetry.

03

Repair or replacement

Share the original material name and any spare pieces. Matching an existing surface depends on what is available.

03 / A useful first conversation

Bring your ideas.
We’ll look at the details.

These details help us discuss the scope, preparation and next steps. A drawing is welcome; a few clear photographs are a good start.

05 / Before we begin

A few useful answers.

Can you fix every porcelain chip or crack?

No. We need to assess the damage and its likely cause before discussing available options. Some situations call for replacement or correction of the support beneath the surface.

Will a repair be invisible?

We cannot promise an invisible result. The finish, color, pattern and damage location all affect what can realistically be achieved.

Do I need to bring the damaged piece to the facility?

Start by sending photos and your project address. We can then discuss whether more information or an on-site assessment is needed.
